New Database: SAGE Publications

The library has entered into a deal to acqure all journals published by SAGE. SAGE publishes over 470 journals in Business, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science, Technology and Medicine. We get all the journals with a Red E next to them on the following list: http://www.sagepub.com/journalsIndex.nav#A.

Genealogy Workshop in the Library

UW Eau Claire Special Collections are teaming up with the Wisconsin Historical Society to present a Genealogical Workshop on Saturday, November 10, 2007 from 1:00pm to 4:30pm. The workshop will be held in the McIntyre Library Learning Lab, room 1033. Everyone who attends will get hands-on experience with the online resources that will be explored. The program is aimed at the novice as well as the expert genealogist.

Topics include:

Lecture on 19th Century African American Community in Northwestern Wisconsin


Celebrate Wisconsin stories during Archives Month! McIntyre Library and the Department of History invite you to a public lecture entitled Discovering Forgotten Stories: Northwestern Wisconsin's First African American Community, Friday, October 19, at 5:15 p.m., in Haas Fine Arts Center, Phillips Recital Hall.

Presenter Timothy L. Ericson is a career archivist and educator who recently retired from his position as Director of Archival Studies, School of Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has authored many articles, including "Building Our Own 'Iron Curtain': The Emergence of Secrecy in American Government," American Archivist, Sprint/Summer 2005, for which he won the Society of American Archivists Ernst Posner Award.
