Presentation on Local Baseball History - 10/23 at Noon

Just in time for the World Series, McIntyre Library will be hosting a presentation on two local baseball players - Burleigh Grimes and Andy Pafko - that made it to the major leagues.

Joe Niese will present "From a Western Wisconsin Farm to the World Series: The Story of Burleigh Grimes and Andy Pafko" at noon on Monday, October 23 in the Library Breezeway (L2023).

The presentation will include the following memorabilia.
  • Andy Pafko model bat, signed by Pafko
  • 1950s era Andy Pafko model youth glove
  • Signed hat from Andy Pafko Park dedication, May, 1986
  • Burleigh Grimes personal scrapbook compiled by his wife. 1930s

About the presenter:
Joe Niese is currently the library director at the Chippewa Falls Public Library, is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research, and was named 2015 Media Person of the Year by the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association. He has written two adult biographies on baseball players: Burleigh Grimes: Baseball's Last Legal Spitballer and Handy Andy: The Andy Pafko Story. The latter was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign and awarded a bronze in Foreword Reviews’ 2015 INDIEFAB Book of the Year Award (Sports- Adult Non-Fiction).
