EBSCOHost Academic Search, now bigger and better!

McIntyre Library has upgraded from EBSCO's Academic Search Elite database to the more robust Academic Search Premier database. The Premier database offers access to about 5000 more peer-reviewed journals and provides more full-text than the Elite database. Because the Academic Search databases cover a broad range of disciplines and publication types (including scholarly and popular journals and newspapers), they are often a good starting point for research. If you have questions about the new enhanced EBSCOHost database, please contact the reference desk at 836-3858.

New Carpeting on 1st Floor - Limited Access, June 19-27

We're rolling out new carpeting later this month. We'll still be open but things will be messy! Because of this there will be limited access to the library's 1st floor from Thursday, June 19 through Friday, June 27.

  • There will be no computer access on the first floor. Computer labs on other floors will be available.
  • The Reference Desk will be closed. Ask at the Circulation Desk for research help or for help locating materials.
  • Call 836-3858 or email library.reference@uwec.edu to set up an office consultation with a Reference Librarian.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but it’ll be worth it!

Blogging Consumer Information

The United States government has printed and distributed a popular booklet titled Consumer Information Catalog for many years. This list of government publications from the General Services Administration is a popular source for FREE information on everything from food, health, and housing, to family and small business.

Take a peek at the latest online copy at http://www.pueblo.gsa.gov/catalog.pdf to find out about ID theft, electronic checking, and many other topics. Or pick up your print copy near the Government Publications Dept display case on the first floor of the library, near L1033.

A more light-hearted look at consumer information is found in the GOV GAB blog located at http://blog.usa.gov/roller/

Have fun—and enjoy getting something free from your government.
