Poll #2: Which Floors Should be Silent?

When we began the construction last year, we changed the silent study floor from fifth to fourth. Should we change it back? This week's poll asks you which floors you want to be "silent study" floors.

The third floor should be silent. It would work well if it were sandwiched between 1,2 and 4,5.

I like the 5th floor as the silent floor. It is away from everyone else.

Keep 4th silent, there is ample room there, and everyone is used to it being that way already.

i agree! 5th floor! I don't think sandwhiched would be quiet! And without computers, those who don't go to the library very often wouldn't mistake it for a talking floor!

5th Floor!! it's really great to have 5th be the silent floor...people will know as well once there is a general rule. It's nice to have a silent floor.

I think both 4th and 5th floors should be silent. That way, if you want to talk you know to stay on the lower floors. The more quiet space the better, that is why most people go to the library is for silent study.

5th floor is the best option.

4th and 5th should be silent. That way there's plenty of room for group work on the lower floors, and the upper levels can be places for quiet study.

4th floor. 5th floor is where everyone goes to hang out and sleep, and there's not enough study carrels or tables. Plus, the computer lab is a good tool when needing to do a big research project.

I agree that both the 4th and 5th floor should be silent floors. I got to the library to study in a peaceful/quiet atmosphere. For those people that would like to sudy with other people could study on the other floors. Or they could take advantage of the many secluded rooms available. Just a thought.

I think that both the 4th and 5th should be also. It just makes sense to have them silent... however, my concern is... how is that going to be policed? I mean, we've had silent 'areas' in the past, and people still be immature and dumb don't get it and still talk, or have their cell phones going / talking, etc... and it doesn't really stay a 'quiet' area.

4th and 5th should both be quiet floors. People that want to talk and visit can use the other floors, plus multiple other areas on campus, such as Davies. The library should be more focused on quiet studies. Two quiet floors would help.
