Therapy Dogs, Free Coffee, Free Pancakes During Finals Week

As a special finals week treat, library staff and Chancellor Jim will be making freshly flipped pancakes for all UW-Eau Claire students studying for finals in McIntyre Library on Monday, May 14 from 8-10 pm.  Best of all, it's entirely free!

McIntyre Library will also be offering students free coffee during finals week at 10 pm each night starting on Sunday, May 13 and running through Thursday, May 17.

Finally, the library has a variety of therapy dogs visiting the week before and during finals week.

Spring 2014 Finals Week Stress Relieving Activities

McIntyre Library is hosting a variety of activities during the spring 2014 finals week at UW-Eau Claire to relieve your stress.  The activities include therapy dog petting sessions, relaxation stations, free coffee, and coloring pages.

Therapy Dog Dates and Times

1) Local therapy dogs will be visiting McIntyre Library the following days and times:

• Sunday (5/11)    6-8 pm
• Monday (5/12)    5-6 pm

• Tuesday (5/13    10 am-noon

2) Student Health Services is providing relaxation stations in the McIntyre Library 24 hr. study area on the first floor the following days and times:

• Monday (5/12) 5-7:30 pm
• Tuesday (5/13) 5-7:30 pm

These relaxation stations feature free massages, fresh fruit, lemonade, “regression station” with coloring pages, stress balls, and a board where students can write about how they deal with the stress of finals.

Finals Week Free Coffee

3) McIntyre Library will be offering free coffee to all late night studiers starting on Sunday, May 11th at 10 pm until the pot is empty.  Free coffee will be available each night thereafter with Thursday being the last night that it is offered.

4) Coloring pages will be available all day starting on Sunday.

Finals week stress relievers in McIntyre Library

Stressed by finals week? McIntyre Library has a plethora of things in store for you to relieve your stresses.

Dogs in McIntyre Library: Pet local therapy dogs throughout the week.  The dogs will be here the following days and times near the main stairwell.

Dance Party in McIntyre Library: On Sunday, December 15 from 9-10 pm, dance your stresses away on the library's 2nd floor.  A DJ will play music while you take a break from studying with the free food provided.  McIntyre Library and the Lookout are sponsors of this event. 

Relaxation Stations: On Monday & Tuesday of finals week (December 16&17) stop by the relaxation stations in the library entryway (riverside entrance) to get a professional massage, grab a piece of fruit, make your own stress ball, or use some aromatherapy lotion.  This event is sponsored by Student Health Services.

Music & Coloring Therapy - Color your stress away in McIntyre Library to classical music recorded by our own University Chamber Orchestra.  Coloring pages and crayons are provided.  Located on first floor near the TV & Book Sale shelf. This event will be held the following days and times:

• On Saturday, December 14, the library will open at 7:30 a.m. and close at midnight.
• Finals week: The library will open Sunday, December 15 at 7:30 a.m. and stay open continuously until Friday, December 20 at 7 p.m.

During winter break the library will be closed December 21-22, 24-25, 28-29, 31, and January 1.

Free Coffee During Finals Week

Plan on studying late into the night in McIntyre Library? The library and Sodexho will offer free coffee from 10 p.m. - 4 a.m. Sunday-Thursday nights of finals week (May 12-16).  The coffee is located across from the library's circulation desk on the first floor.

McIntyre Library has also extended its tea cart service until 1 am during the week before and of finals.

Students who study in McIntyre Library during the wee hours of the morning during finals week will find FREE coffee after Library Grounds closes, from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night thru Thursday night, May 16-20.

McIntyre staff predict that you will enjoy the fortune cookies available during finals week. We wish you good fortune on those exams.

The library will be open continuously from 7:30 a.m. Sunday, May 16
